There where four - now there's five

There where four in the room and one of them said lets start a company, they all agreed and they started a company. Then another one joined so theres five in the hive and the companies called BigEyedDeer. Sheez Louise....all we wanna do is make movies! like all the other filmmakers in the country. Unfortunately we dont forsee a way to make movies by starting as PA's in the commercials industry cos, well it hasnt woked so far. Instead we dont pay rent, we sell our cars, eat noodles and sleep on couches but we're in Preprod for two feature length fims. "MAHEES the Dark Vigilante" is our narrative feature about uhm, Mahees, thie vigilante and secondly is "Beautiful Struggle" a feature length documentary about lifestyle in Gug's. Based on a book by Mlamli Figlan. When I say we're in Pre-Prod it means we've shot short films on both flieks (THANKS TO ALL WHO WERE INVOLVED!!!), they are curently in sound post and we'll have a screening once their done. We have the budgets well underway, and various MOU's for equipment, post production, distribution blahblahblah.... We're wanting, for this space, to become a place for filmmakes to start (more inportantly interact) blogs also posts jobs and opportunities and what ya'll doing! we know the bigger vision - to create this thing called a sustainable, south african, feature film industry. this it aint a one man job...nuff said. BigEyedDeer wants collaboration between filmmakers to take the repsonsibility upon themselves to actively create media content so slowly we hone our skills to make killer movies. This is an activity however and if you are sitting on your couch wondering why you're not making a movie its because you are on your couch and not SHOOTING! Shoot ALL THE TIME. CUT all the time. WRITE all the time.....if one of these activities are not happening you are not helping toward the bigger goal here....sorry for harshness of statemento. Otherwise BED does Live events - FlyPaperJet at Albert Hall being the latest. We design cool stuff - JD van Brakel being our very first designer but he's on a fliek right now so Paddy has taken over - see our header of this site...niiice one. We service commercials *sic - hopeing that this will become a port for youngguns to start-off in while they are developing films to make a bit of dosh. so if our pops or uncle or someone wants a commercial or corporate (even if it is min cash) talk to us - if there is one thing we can do at least is try make a PLAN (EKS OOK 'n BOER) On your portfolio of this site please add what you do and your cell number/mail address so when a gig happens we can knock on your door and maybe get you busy - that would be cool.
